Huf x Converse = Fire!

West Coast skate shop HUF has hooked up with Nike’s smaller subsidiary company Converse to put together a really, really dope sneaker design. Allow me break it down for ya, as to why this shoe is so dope…

First off it’s a HUF product. Usually that would be nuf said. But I’ll get on my designer tip and say that there are 2 things that sneaker fanatics have been raving about as of late, which a lot of other manufactures have acknowledged and followed through with…

1.) The galvanized “Vans” sole: Everyone, and their grandmother has been adopting the look. Including sneaker behemoth’s like Nike… 2.) The slim no bullshit toe box and silhouette: As the fashion industry has taken to more timeless classic designs, so have a lot of current sneaker designs, aka less panels… 3.) The high top. This is something that I’m not really akin to, but I can at least respect it.

These three things combined with the subtle “H” pattern, the hit of red, and the detail on the heal, make this shoe a MUST HAVE for any sneakerhead.

My girlfriend often tells me that when I get excited about certain things she finds it hard to tell what my genuine reaction to it is because of what I say when I react. I’m always like “OMG, that shit is stupid, that shit is retarded, That’s shit is DISGUSTING!”… but what I really mean it that shit is fucking ILL!!!! Such was my reaction when I saw these Vans x Taka Hayashi a couple days ago on Hypebeast. Honestly, this collab is a wake up call to everyone in the game… WAKE THE FUCK UP… It’s like everything about this shoe is so right it’s wrong. Seriously. They took everything about what’s hot and mashed it fluidly into one shoe. Native inspiration, thin sole, leather laces… Taka Hayashi, where have you been all my life!

I’m not going to lie. I HATE Creative Recreation. I think the strap is the worst staple design piece any brand could coin and I loath anyone who wears them because only people who THINK they’re stylish wear Creative Rec… BUT I love this model. The Ponti Select. I LOVE the color, perfect for fall. And the Timberland inspired laces? Killer detail. I just hope the laces actually stay laced.
