Chris Ashworth

I’m a little biased to his work because of the influence that renowned Typographist David Carson had on my early design career, but the portfolio of Executive Creative Director Chris Ashworth has a very rich combination of modern editorial class and abstract artistic grit. His styles range from the clean commercial ways of Getty Images and Idea Magazine (and one of my personal faves, Soon: Brands of Tomorrow) to clients with more of an artistic direction like Raygun and Blah Blah Blah Magazine. I’m a fan so check him out.

Hmmm. The illustrations are good, no doubt, but there seems to be conflicting styles here. On one end of the spectrum his illustrations are very refined, perfect for editorial, and other the other end they are more like the raw sketches of a schizophrenic. Like I said, I like em, but judge for yourself.

Ruby Red: Christina Hendricks
Post Content

I just finished a week long jam session, plowing through all of season 1 & 2 of the Emmy nominated show Mad Men. It’s not just a nominated show btw. It should be noted that Mad Men has picked up 16 Emmy nods, more than any other drama this year. The show itself has been touted in respect to the realistic depiction of the 60’s. From High-Hair to the recent resurgence of skinny ties… right down to the men first, women second attitude… Mad Men is the real deal. Now, I got love for Don Draper and all but there’s a new sheriff in town and she’s got balls bigger than most of the men in the show. Her name is Christina Hendricks and she’s… sorry Meghan, you know how it is… Curves+Confidence=Sex Appeal…
