This is by no means a new idea, obviously. But what makes this project a terrible success is that the following items are essentially life size. Which makes this project kick fucking ass.

I’m always a fan of art installations that re-contextualize everyday places and objects. And this particular installation concept really hit the nail on the head. It’s amazing how much impact a regular object can have when it’s removed from its typical environment. Great stuff.

Yes. Ease up on the holiday meals. Apparently it’s called the “social” bench, I’m assuming, because it’s supposed to bring two people together but when I look at it all I see is an obese dude crushing an innocent by-standard. Designed by Jeppe Hein.

Today and Tomorrow – “1g/min is an installation by Albin Karlsson. A machine attached to the ceiling rotates with the speed of one revolution per hour. Every minute, a one gram of hot glue drops on the floor…” the result is a stop frame animation that replicates the growth of many types of fungi

Now this just adds fuel to my burning fire of fixed gear hate… full article coming soon, but really. As clever as this is, do you really think this is something that the kids would enjoy? No. Absolutely not. Obviously not. And this obviousness is the things that makes me so damn angry…

This was designed so that fully grown douchebag men can stare each other in the face and talk about how much better is it that their bikes have no gears, and how much better it would be if they could simply will their bike to move with out any wheels at all, which is where this stupid idea originated from. Now I fully acknowledge that writing a hater-article about hipster fixed gear riding douchebags will inevitably offend some close people that I actually respect, but whatever.

This art installation actually made me “laugh out loud”…

‘in the past few years much of my neighborhood in brooklyn has been torn down to make way for luxury housing. for better or worse it’s a whole new street-scape out here. personally, i can’t say i like the new modern architecture very much, it’s sterile and so arrogantly disconnected with its surroundings sometimes it seems like giant alien space ships have landed in the night. but, at the very least, there’s some interesting new textures and surfaces to interact with. these are photo-based, heavily re-painted stickers, mounted on plastic and glued to the walls of the ugly new buildings. i hit the lower east side and east village in manhattan, and bushwick, dumbo, greenpoint and williamsburg out here in brooklyn.’ – Dan Witz
