Wholly fucking shit batman, this ain’t no joke. This is the real deal. It’s official. Nikon has finally released the successor to the hall-of-famed 28mm f/1.4 $4k “holy grail” lens. Only this time, they’ve given us more width, in addition to all the new fancy lens coatings and what have you, for less. I just caught the news from the ever popular Nikon Rumors website who kindly left a link trail to Bob Krist’s blog, who first broke the news with some of the first sample photos from this all new 24mm f/1.4. Fortunately, for those of you like myself, who’ve been waiting literally YEARS for a lens like this to come out, it’s cheaper than the 28mm f/1.4 that’s been selling on EBay by about $1000.00 which brings it’s Canadian retail price to $2,349.59… bank breaking I know…

Metallic Velcro: The next evolution
Post Content

When I was a kid, mostly all my shoes had some sort of velcro on them. I guess my mom figured it was easier to teach me to just rip away my shoe straps than it would be to tie and untie my own laces. She was right, although she forgot to account for the “dweeb factor”. Unfortunately for the fashion scene, velcro and straps have come back in a major way and I’m one of those few who refuses to join in on the action. I would however be down to mess around with anything that’s got metal velcro attached to it.

Shared information, linked data. It’s something the leaders of this new world believe in. It’s one of the fundamental concepts that various social networks like Wikipedia and Flickr have used to create such impactful enterprises and it’s even one of the cornerstones of President Barack Obama’s presidency. Make information as open and accessible as possible. And it’s within this concept of openness that a company like Facebook can rise above and beyond every major competitor…

thestar.ca – A one-eyed documentary filmmaker is preparing to work with a video camera concealed inside a prosthetic eye, hoping to secretly record people for a project commenting on the global spread of surveillance cameras. Kanye West… Eat Your Heart Out

Apparently this little Flash music player is representative of a big breakthrough in flash development, or so I’m told. Adobe introduced an experimental compiler with Flash Player 10 that lets you compile or import C++ code into the flash environment. Most, if not all video games for XBox, PS3 and more as well as most software is coded using C++ which means there’s the potential to be able to play all the games you know and love right through an internet browser window, much like you would watch a YouTube video. Long story short this music player is a flash file that has compiled the songs from an old Commodore 64 and plays it back to you via flash. Now it took me a while to understand what this all meant from my co-worker… but the reason I’m posting this is because the music in this player is just awesome… plain and simple. If you’re interested in reading about this thing more in depth head over to Unit Zero One.

Motion Controlled MP3 Player
Post Content

Hacked Gadgets – The MP3 player does not have any buttons nor dials… and it has an acceleration sensor instead of the mechanical switches. Therefore all playback commands to the player are given in defined motions, such as inclination, tilt and shock. The player detects the motion with the built-in acceleration sensor and recognize it as a playback control command.

What’s with the shitty music?

History of The Internet
Post Content

For those of you who don’t already know, here’s a nice little video that explains, for the most part, how the internet was started. And if you were wondering where people like Bill Gates got all their wealth from, it’s because people like Bill Gates and Bill Joy were there from the beginning.
