When I was a kid, mostly all my shoes had some sort of velcro on them. I guess my mom figured it was easier to teach me to just rip away my shoe straps than it would be to tie and untie my own laces. She was right, although she forgot to account for the “dweeb factor”. Unfortunately for the fashion scene, velcro and straps have come back in a major way and I’m one of those few who refuses to join in on the action. I would however be down to mess around with anything that’s got metal velcro attached to it.

The institute of metal forming and casting has developed a new more evolved kind of hook and loop fastening made of spring steel.
