As I recently invested in a portable lighting set up, I’ve been trying to get out and shoot more. Not just shoot more, but shoot more with proper lighting. Coincidentally, local Streetwear brand Ransom was releasing their Fall 2009 line and I thought what better an opportunity than to try and make something happen with this project…
So I hooked up with my good friend Andrew and we went out and did some location scouting. I’m beginning to understand why so many films are shot in Toronto. This city really has a wide range of styles.
We decided to set up shop on Federal property down by Cherry beach. Some of you may know of the salt depository that’s kept down there… well it’s a really, really interesting location in general, but it was absolutely perfect for what we were looking for.

Unfortunately, it being Fall and all, the light vanishes really, really quickly and we didn’t get set up at the location in time. The shots above are some of the ones that turned out, but I felt weren’t good enough to pull together for a feature, or at least weren’t in the direction that I wanted.
About 30 minutes after we got there is was basically pitch black, so we made due with what we had and just shot in the dark, risky business but what did we have to loose right?

We had planned to do all 6 “looks” at this one location… had we had enough light to do so, but given the circumstances (lack of light) we decided to get through the first 3 looks and come back again another time and finish the final 3. But once again, unfortunately for us, a security car demanded we vacate the premises immediately, and we were actually very lucky we didn’t get charged for trespassing on Federal property.
So I had to go out another day and scout a different location. I was really really stressed out but I managed to scout out this really dope spot out in Scarborough just west of Midland behind some boring office buildings. So once again Andrew and I gathered the gear and did it all over again. This time my main man Paolo came out with us so at least this time we had a helping hand.

So after having explained how it all went down, you must be interested in seeing the final product right? Alright then click here.

dude your sick man. in a funny weird way I idolize not only your work but how you go about accomplishing things, then sharing them afterwards. sorry if that creeps you out, I’m not trying to be a fanboy. lol.
Made me realize that pretty much every generation thinks that when they were kids it was so much safer, better, more prosperous. ,
