Some friends and I decided to head north to Muskoka for a small but much needed cottage getaway. Especially with the garbage strike, here in Toronto, it was nice to get away from the stench of the city. Did I say stench? I think I meant a straight punch to the face. Coming home we had the windows rolled up and as soon as we got back into the city we rolled em down to get some fresh air, and whap! 20+ days of the garbage strike does not do a body good. Anyways, the weekend was really nice and I was able to snap cool pics, so click for more…
The drive up was long and slow (3 hours) but Meghan slept the whole time, and she didn’t wake till we got there, so that was nice. Some of our friends who drove up a couple hours earlier got caught behind an accident and a trip that normally would be 2.5-3 hours took them 7 hours. So I guess we made good time :) (We left at 10pm with a 1:30am arrival)

When we got in the neighborhood the moon was not present, so it was pitch black. The door was open and our friends were passed out when we got there (1:30am) so I woke ‘em up with a loud eeehhhhooo which scared the shit out of ‘em.

Saturday morning. It rained. No, actually it thunder stormed. But we were lucky enough to get some sunshine in the afternoon, but it was overcast and maaaad windy for most of the day.

I’m not going to lie. It was really, really, hard to use the outhouse. But with most things, the more you use it the more comfortable you get. By the end of the weekend it literally became my comfort blanket.

The the pic above is obviously, a giant sand hill. One of the weirder sights to see. But it was really fun racing up and down… quite the cardio exercise.

By the end of the weekend I felt rested and refreshed. Surprisingly it felt like a 3 day weekend. But as much as I enjoyed the snails-pace of the cottage life, I was ready to get back to the hustle of city living.

Good stuff man… what lens are you using? On a D700?
Using a 35mm f/2 on a D700 shooting nothing but RAW!
Great colours.
I am really digging the photography =]
I especially love the contrast and the way the photos are focused

I’m so jealous. We have a cabin on an island at Lake Weslemkoon in Ontario and I haven’t been in 10 years. I enjoyed every pic. Thanks for sharing.
